An open letter to Mr. Bill Gates

Dear Mr. Gates,

I'm the chairman of WenQuXing and Taiwan Global View Co., Ltd. (A Public Listed Company). And I personally have invested in MSNNEXT which developed by a Chinese team. MSNNEXT is a 500KB client software which you and your friend both installed it, you can interact with your friend and friend's friends (your second tier friends) under the 100% individual privacy protection. MSNNEXT helps to extend the interactive communication and trust worth transaction between MSN users. I decided to support the development of MSNNEXT because of the creative ideas£ the product feature apply to Chinese culture and the excellent team.

In Chinese culture, making business friends and helping each other often deployed in the circle of acquaintance to secure the transaction faithfully and safely. Therefore, the two-tier friends development is very compatible to Chinese traditional business values and has a tremendous perspective.

MSN now is facing with a cruel reality: the huge difference of market share from QQ is very incompatible to MSN's status and fame. Therefore, MSN needs the co-operation and support of local partners eagerly. MSNNEXT is just a very good product, which strengthen it's coherency to users and is a wonderful service application as well. The MSN users in China have been attacked by junk E-mails, rubbish robots, the broken line by Taiwan earthquake and so on, which caused negative influence. Moreover, media reveals so-called "privacy problem" about 8.1 and 8.5 versions recently. Meanwhile, We are also sorry to know that MSN office in China respond to CCID and other medias that plug-in software of third party having partial SNS function may expose the users' Messenger contacts and encroach upon the user’s privacy. Actually, there are many manufacturers developing legally and providing partial SNS function based on MSN standard protocol recently. However, MSNNEXT is the most influential one. So we must explain necessarily to avoid such vague information bringing the wrong image to users.

As a MSN user who lived and worked in USA, Canada, Taiwan and Mainland China, I would like to share and discuss the privacy policy of MSN:

MYSPACE and HI5, American websites, had offered the function of knowing whether friends have joined the community by importing friend's MSN account and password and inviting them to join the community by sending E-mails. This method was adopted early in China and no one considered it abnormal. The MSN users in China aren't sensitive to the account number of good friends until junk E-mails and junk robots overwhelmed them. Actually, junk E-mails are still overwhelming today and many users quit HOTMAIL. It's really a pity.

For such special situation, MSNNEXT takes many measures in protection of privacy.

1. MSNNEXT, a tiny client software. If user doesn't install it on his own initiative, they will not enter this two-tier space for ever, not even the exposedness of account number and disturbance problem.

2. For the users installed and used the MSNNEXT, the account details of their MSN can't be exposed to second tier friends absolutely. This is the fundamental principle of privacy policy and won’t be changed forever.

5. The user can easily avoid the NEXT friends to see his own second tier friends by setting TA status as “Blocked”. This also could block the reverse link to approach friend’s MSN account.

These five privacy policies protect user’s MSN details extremely strict and thoughtful. We believe MSNNEXT is the most effective one among those third party developers.
